Assistant Chief State Solicitor - Dublin, deadline 11 September

There is an opportunity for a high calibre solicitor to join the senior management team of the Chief State Solicitors Office to contribute effectively to the legal services of the State.

The Assistant Chief State Solicitor will report directly to the Chief State Solicitor and will be an integral part of the senior management structure of the Office with legal, management and operational responsibility for one of the five legal divisions within the Office.

The work of the Chief State Solicitor’s Office primarily involves the provision of services in civil law cases to the Attorney General and Government Departments/Offices. The wide remit of the Chief State Solicitor’s Office means that staff are involved in many aspects of legal work, including a wide range of civil litigation (including the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg) as well as in the provision of conveyancing services, property law, commercial contract and procurement advice and general advisory services for an array of public service clients.

The ideal candidate will have:

Sound legal knowledge and the ability to operate as a senior lawyer with the skills required to lead a Division;

A proven high level of management and organisational skills with the ability to develop and manage legal teams;
 
A proven record in the development and implementation of legal Knowledge Management;

Strong personal commitment to client care; 

Excellent communication skills with an ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally.
